3M Battery Solutions for Converters 3M Innovation Centre, Wroclaw

On the 28th of May 2025, we were granted the prestigious opportunity of attending an event at which the latest 3M solutions were to be presented. These solutions can be applied to automotive batteries, as well as to other projects related to electrification in the broadest sense. This event provided us with an excellent opportunity to expand our knowledge of 3M products and their applications.

The 3M™ Thermally Conductive Acrylic Interface Pad 5500H is designed to facilitate heat transfer from components that generate heat to a cooling device, such as an aluminium plate or heat sink. The acrylic pad consists of a flexible, slightly tacky sheet of acrylic elastomer containing a conductive ceramic filler.

Typical applications include battery cooling, power electronics, and HMI displays.

3M™ Cell Expansion Foam (CEF) is a flame-retardant, microcellular, black polyurethane foam with self-adhesive properties that provides cushioning for electrical batteries.

It provides excellent shock absorption and cushioning at elevated temperatures. It adheres well to glass, metal and plastics with a high surface energy.

The foam helps to mitigate the forces generated during module assembly and operation. Its wide range of thicknesses allows it to be adapted to many battery designs. Its self-adhesive properties reduce process steps, helping to improve assembly efficiency.
